What the end of the COVID-19 emergencies in the US means

"On May 11, the U.S. will no longer officially be in a COVID-19 emergency for the first time since the pandemic began three years ago." That seems like we were on a schedule. Since when does a pandemic have a schedule? And if May 11 is the day it ends, why not May 1 or even earlier? What majorly will change even between now and then? Once again, it stinks of an allowance to control people for a period of time. "For the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of the deceitful are opened against me: they have spoken against me with a lying tongue" (Psalms 109:2).
